The Aberdeen Maritime Museum is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone interested in the city’s rich maritime history. Located in a stunning historic building overlooking the harbor, the museum offers a fascinating insight into Aberdeen’s deep connection with the sea, from fishing and shipbuilding to the oil and gas industry.
The exhibits are well-presented, engaging, and full of interesting artifacts, models, and interactive displays. I particularly enjoyed learning about the North Sea oil industry and the impact it has had on Aberdeen. The museum does a fantastic job of making complex topics accessible to visitors of all ages.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to answer questions and share interesting facts. Best of all, entry is free, making it an excellent attraction for both locals and tourists.

This is such a neat and free museum to visit! I really liked the oil rig and the history of oil rigs in the museum. The staff was very nice and friendly. They were available for anyone that may have questions about the museum.
It’s about three stories, so I recommend starting at the top and then working your way down. They do have elevators and ramps for those with strollers and wheelchairs. I enjoyed learning about Aberdeen’s history with fishing and ships. I wish they had more options in the gift shop especially about the oil rigs, but I definitely recommend coming here if you are on a tight budget.

Great museum with amazing views of the harbour! It has cool ship models, interactive exhibits, and a huge oil platform model. Loved learning about Aberdeen’s maritime history. Free entry and friendly staff—definitely worth a visit!

It's free and offers an absolute trove of information about aberdeen! I went alone and a detailed walk around took me just shy of two hours, but I didn't watch the film which a sign said was 45 minutes.

An excellent museum for those interested in Aberdeen's maritime history. My son thoroughly enjoyed the views over the harbour. Sadly no café anymore.
Edited to say that although I didn't come across baby changing facilities on this particular visit, they do have them, so we can ask about these at the next visit. Thank you.

Very interesting indeed. The scale model of the oil rig certainly puts things into perspective! Definitely worth a visit! No free car park. Entry is free!

Surprisingly good, its free and it contains a variety of exhibitions, from oil industry to local sea history and shipmaking. A must go in the city

Nice museum, a few interactive pieces and they have a Newtsuit on display; coolest "toy" ever! And right next to it you can test your skills at controlling a miniature ROV.
